Battlefield 2042 Hazard Zone Is Free-To-Play, Leaked Details & More

There’s a new big leak for Battlefield 2042 Hazard Zone, and looks like the upcoming game mode will be free-to-play.

Right now, fans everywhere are eager for new information about Battlefield 2042 after its reveal earlier this month. After months of anguish, we finally got the trailer we were begging for, and it was well worth the wait.

Then, only a few days later, we got an incredible Battlefield 2042 gameplay trailer dropping at E3 2021. This helped raise hype levels even further, but it’s sadly all we’ll be hearing officially for quite some time.

The next time we’ll see Battlefield 2042, it’ll be at EA Play on July 22. And there are even rumors that a new beta will launch for the game around that time.

You can sign up for the Battlefield 2042 Open Beta here, to ensure you’re among the first players to set foot in-game. But in the meantime, we’ve got new details about Battlefield 2042’s Hazard Zone.

And there’s also a new leak about Battlefield 2042’s [REDACTED] game mode!

New Battlefield 2042 Hazard Zone Leaks

One of the game modes we already know about in Battlefield 2042 is the upcoming Hazard Zone.

EA reports that the game mode is “a tense experience that combines edge-of-your-seat gameplay with the best of the Battlefield sandbox.”

But now, thanks to leaker Tom Henderson, we have a little more information about what’s to come in Hazard Zone at launch.

According to a new report, it appears that Hazard Zone will be Battlefield 2042’s free-to-play game mode. And it’s gameplay currently supports up to 100 players at once, as well as AI soldiers present on the battlefield.

In terms of actual objectives, Hazard Zone is rumored to be very similar to Escape From Tarkov in gameplay. Expect high-intensity situations and looting mechanics if this leak proves correct.

However, the Hazard Zone could also be modified to become Battlefield 2042’s long-awaited Battle Royale, Henderson reports, if the developers so choose. Right now, the leaker speculates that EA wants to avoid using the term Battle Royale despite the mode’s similarities with other games in the genre.

It’s worth pointing out that Henderson has been a bit hit and miss with Battlefield leaks in the past, but he’s still a trusted source in the game’s community. However, even Tom Henderson himself warns fans to take this new leak with a pinch of salt, as he’s not been able to verify it with some of his usual sources.

One thing we’re very excited about in Battlefield 2042 is the ability to switch attachments mid-game, which looks incredibly innovative. Check out all the Battlefield 2042 confirmed weapons we know about so far here!
