Battlefield has delivered some of the greatest FPS titles since 2002. However, it’s only been a few weeks and Battlefield 2042 player base has already seen a massive drop.
Battlefield 2042 was an instant flop and did not live up to the fans’ hopes for the game. This is pretty clear as the number of players is going down with each passing day.
The long-time franchise fans are quite vocal about their disappointment. Battlefield 2042 has already crossed 40,000 Mostly Negative reviews on Steam.
With the latest Battlefield title having new issues pop up almost every day, the players are looking for new games to explore. As a result, the Battlefield franchise is seeing new player count lows for their latest title.
Battlefield 2042 Player Base Already Half Since Launch
Battlefield 2042 is already seeing one of its most talked-about game modes Portal dying with a low number of players. However, the fans are now concerned with the diminishing Battlefield 2042 player base.
Reddit user ‘FuryxHD‘ took to Battlefield 2042’s subreddit to share their growing concerns. The user shared the player count stats for Battlefield 2042 over the last 10 days.
As evident from Battlefield 2042’s SteamDB, the game has already lost half of its player count. The Battlefield 2042 player base went from over 100,000 to 50,000 in just a matter of 10 days. One user further pointed out what everyone in the community is feeling as of late.
“Well the game is a disaster with even less content than BFV had at launch. What did you guys expect? That’s just how it works out sometimes.”
Although the player count is diminishing, there’s still a significant amount of players actively playing the game. But the projected player count doesn’t appear to be in favor of the franchise.
It’s worth noting that these Steam statistics are also not fully reflective of the full game’s player count. After all, other PC platforms such as Origin, as well as console users, also make up the game’s player base.
While the game will receive patches as time goes on, many Battlefield 2042 fans already requested refunds following the broken launch.
On top of that, disappointed Battlefield fans are asking DICE to take back control from EA. Hopefully, this would help the Battlefield series get back on track for its next entry.
Finally, Battlefield 2042 is going to receive major updates to fix the critical issues in the game.
