Battlefield 2042 Passes 40,000 Mostly Negative Reviews on Steam

It’s only been a handful of days since the official Battlefield 2042 launch and the game has already surpassed 40,000 Mostly Negative reviews on Steam.

After months of waiting, some incredible trailers, and more than a handful of leaks, Battlefield 2042 is finally here. And it seems that players wish that it wasn’t.

What could have been a groundbreaking title is disappointing fans for all manner of reasons. And it’s leading to a huge Battlefield 2042 negative review bomb on Steam.

Here are some of the top complaints about Battlefield 2042, straight from the fans:

Battlefield 2042 Hits 40,000 Negative Steam Reviews

It seems that Battlefield 2042 is still suffering from negative reviews, with over 40,000 gamers taking time to leave their feedback.

Not every review is negative of course, there’s plenty to like about DICE’s latest title. But it’s clear that the game wasn’t ready for launch this year, and players are letting the developers know their thoughts.

Steam reports that the 40,000 reviews so far are ‘Mostly Negative’, and it’s worth noting that possibly the majority of players won’t be on PC, let alone on Valve’s store.

Things are getting so bad that Battlefield 2042 fans are requesting refunds after the broken launch.

What’s more, Battlefield 2042 has already fallen out of the top seller’s list, only days after launch, and it’s already one of Steam‘s lowest reviewed titles of all time.

The development team has some work to do to get Battlefield 2042 in a better state, but we’ve seen DICE pull it together before. That’s why fans are urging DICE to take back control from EA in a new petition.

Whether the game is able to be saved or not, we’ll have to wait and see. After all, we’re still waiting for Battlefield 2042 to get its scoreboard back.

It’s going to be a long process, getting this game in working order. And after that, the team at DICE really needs to work on expanding Battlefield 2042’s incredibly limited arsenal too!

It's nice to see gamers push back against the corporate greed that is infecting the industry.

Publishers push these developers to the edge, crunch them to release a broken product, then force them to continue to slave away to fix their unfinished mess.

I can't imagine how unsatisfying it is to work on something that isn't even done after it's been released, especially with such a poor reception as this.

I didn't bother buying the game due to the tornado feature in the trailer. I knew instantly after seeing that that the game was going to be complete disaster. It was like a visual non-sequitur. Developers and their suit-n-ties want to appeal to the masses more than ever to rake in the big bucks- we're finally seeing the negative effects that kind of directing has on the final products i.e. unfocused gameplay and visuals, and re-hashing the same kitsch over....and over....again. Peace. Not sorry for your loss, Dice.

The term "review bomb" is rather loaded, when for the most part, the negative reviews are well written and the issues are plain for all to see.
