Rumors of Fortnite shutting down are worrying players, forcing them to think of the worst, ‘is Battle Royale coming to an end?’ The rumours started when Epic Games called an emergency shutdown for maintenance and gave out no ETA. Players feared the game would never go online again.  The most popular rumour is the “PUBG lawsuit” over a “copyright infringement” which spread throughout the Fortnite community as many fan pages were posting it.

Fortnite Shutting Down: Where Did The Rumour Come From

As Fortnite is a very popular game when the community heard that it could be shutting down it sparked a lot of frustration. On the FortniteBr Subreddit there has been a lot of fake screenshots of the real Fortnite twitter with fake posts. All of these were photoshopped or edited through the code, and none of the tweets were actually real. This was a rumour that was fake and caused the Fortnite community to be misled by a troll.

An image of a tweet was photoshopped to make it look like the real Fortnite tweeted it. This caused a lot of the twitter fan pages to post it causing the rumour to spread at a rapid rate. The tweet explained, “due to a lawsuit against PUBG on copyright infringement Fortnite Battle Royale will be coming to an end May 24, 2018.” The tweet does mention that “Save the world would still be in development and would be rolled out ASAP.” Meaning that the Battle Royale side of the game would be shut down while Save the World would still be up and running, as Battle Royale is the more popular side of the game many of the players have spent a fortune on cosmetics.

Many Fortnite fans raced over to the Offical Fortnite twitter seeking for the tweet announcing that Fortnite Battle Royale was coming to an end. It wasn’t found on the Offical Fortnite’s twitter timeline, meaning the rumour is fake and Fortnite Battle Royale will not be shutting down. Although it is possible with PUBG trying to take down other Battle Royale titles. However, Fortnite hasn’t announced anything about it either.
