Fortnite Concurrent Player Count Surpasses 8.3 Million

Fortnite’s concurrent player count surpasses 8.3 million as the game is released in South Korea this week. The Battle Royale mode is being rolled out to South Korea with today’s weekly update.

Fortnite Player Count Surpasses 8.3 Million

Epic Games announced back in February that Fortnite had 3.4 million players online simultaneously. Yet, in just nine months the game’s popularity has soared with many celebs, from rapper Drake to Tottenham player Harry Kane, getting in on the action. Furthermore, streamers, such as Ninja and CourageJD, that made the transition to Fortnite have seen their numbers reach new heights.

And now Sung Chul Park, an Epic Games Korea spokesperson, has announced that the game has 8.3 million concurrent players. However, this isn’t surprising considering that Battle Royale has just launched in South Korea for the first time this week. Not only that, but there was a specific launch event just for the occasion.

Known as the ‘PC Bang Challenges’, South Korean players were encouraged to complete these Battle Royale challenges at specific PC Bang locations. PC Bang is a computer chain cafe in South Korea. Clearly, Epic Games are trying to get more South Korean players involved with this launch.

For anyone yet to complete the PC Bang Challenges (or are just curious) here’s a handy list for you. (Please note you can only complete these challenges from one of the PC Bang locations in South Korea!)
