In the recent weeks, there have been numerous leaks regarding information on Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode, which is Call of Duty’s take on the popular Battle Royale genre. All the leaks in this post are not final, this information has not been confirmed by Treyarch. As always, take these leaks with a grain of salt.
In July, a post was made to the Black Ops 4 Reddit by u/Omnipotentem stating the current build of Blackout was less complete than people imagined. According to the leak, the current build only supported 50 Players and Treyarch was testing stability for 64 players.
The user soon proved to be somewhat credible for leaking other private information about Black Ops 4 Zombies. This convinced the community that the leak was true and they assumed the worst. Blackout may not support the traditional 100 Player format.
A post was made to Twitter by the user @xlimeTigerx showcasing a line of memory taken from the Black Ops 4 Beta, the tweet has now been removed. The image showcased some developer notes, but among them were a set of plain text lines stating Blackout plans to support up to 100 players on launch day.
Along with this tweet were 3 screenshots that hinted towards Parachuting being the entry method into the Blackout map. The pictures had animation names, action names and plain text all linked to Parachuting. Another leak posted by @xlimeTigerx showcased a string of memory hinting that weapons will have a Color-Based Rarity System. Users may also recognize this system from another popular battle royale game, Fortnite.
The Blackout Beta starts September 10th on PS4, with PC and Xbox to follow on the 14th. So we should be expecting a new trailer in the leading weeks to it.
