Fans of Apex Legends can rejoice as solo and duos modes are just around the corner.
Gaming INTEL has discovered brand new Apex Legends solos and duos details from within the files of the latest game patch.
Hidden within the Playlists files are a new entry known as “Riff Playlists”, which contains brand new Apex Legends solo and duos information.
The duos mode will be made up of a maximum of 30 teams, meaning each game will contain the usual 60 players that we have come to expect from games on the Kings Canyon map. Other than that it looks like there will be no changes in the duos mode from the standard three man game that we have been playing since Apex Legends release.
The solo mode, however, looks set to receive some updated rules when compared to the three man and two man versions of the game. While you will still be playing in a lobby of 60 players, as we have come to expect from Apex Legends, certain items within the game will be disabled.
While playing Apex Legends with other teammates you do not get thrown out of the game as soon as you die. Instead, you enter a downed but not out state where you can be revived, and in Apex Legends you can equip a shield when you are downed. These shields will be removed from the solo version of the game because, of course, when you go down there is no one left to revive you.
Similarly to this, the respawn mechanics, which have become a defining feature in Apex Legends, have also been removed. Instead, if you are knocked down you immediately die, and that death will unfortunately be a permanent affair.
With no respawn mechanics and no teammates for your legends to synergize with it will be interesting to discover how the meta in these new Apex Legends solos and duos modes unfolds.
