Apex Legends has become one of the leading battle royale titles since its release on February 4th. Would you believe it if you found out that the Apex Legends map was leaked nearly one year ago in a Reddit post?
A Titanfall Reddit post from almost one year ago has come to the forefront after showing the Apex Legends map. The leaker’s description of this map, named ‘hiticonic’ was titled “Alleged Minimap for Rumored Titanfall Battle Royal Game”. Although this Reddit user got the wrong game, this was still clearly a huge leak.
Furthermore, ‘hiticonic’ did not receive a good reaction to the Reddit post, to say the least. It racked up a grand total of just 14 comments and no upvotes. Some of the replies also included “I really hope this doesn’t happen” and “they better not add battle royale in the next game”.
Apex Legends must have been in the making around one year before its release with this information coming to light. We are sure Respawn, the developer of Apex Legends and Titanfall, could never have expected that they’d have millions playing on this map a year from then, trying to become the Champion.
NEW INTEL: Apex Legends Season 1 Release Date
In another recent Reddit post, ‘Fubbles22’ found this leak from almost one year ago, and pointed out how “all he got was pessimistic comments.” The original leaker of the Apex Legends map, ‘hiticonic’ replied to this post by saying: “I’ll take my upvotes now :P”.
A Respawn Community Manager also responded to this thread by saying it was “a relief” to see this leaked map go under the radar at the time. This was probably mainly due to the idea of a Titanfall battle royale being very unlikely, but the manager went on to say: “I was thinking, well, he’ll be able to say I was right when next year comes along.”
With this information recently coming to light, if you see any new maps getting posted on Reddit, you probably won’t want to disregard them.
