A recent tease by Activision might hint at AI enemies being present on Ashika Island in the upcoming Warzone 2 Resurgence mode.

However, it is currently unclear as to whether or not computer-controller players will be present outside of DMZ.

Over on the Call of Duty Twitter, Activision revealed Tsuki Castle, one of Ashika Island’s most iconic POIs. However, players were quick to note that the tweet referred to getting “past the tower’s defenders”, a sure sign that AI will be present on the map.

In case you missed it, here’s a full breakdown of Ashika Island including some brand-new images!

It’s worth mentioning that Ashika Island will be playable in both Resurgence mode and DMZ however. And while DMZ will certainly come packed with AI opponents, it remains to be seen if the Resurgence game mode will too.

We wouldn’t write the possibility off completely though. After all, Ashika Island was developed by High Moon Studios, the same developer as Fortune’s Keep – a map that also featured AI enemies in Resurgence!

But while Fortune’s Keep’s computer-controller players were incredibly weak, MW2’s take on AI seems to be far more of an issue.

Warzone 2 Tsuki Castle POI in Ashika Island Map

The implementation of AI enemies is of the biggest issues that players have been having with Warzone 2 since its launch.

These NPC soldiers appear in areas such as Strongholds and Black Sites, defending an area filled with valuable loot.

In DMZ, Warzone 2’s extraction shooter mode, AI works well – even if enemies are a little overtuned. But in Battle Royale, the more vocal members of the community are certainly unimpressed with the feature.

For now, we’ll have to wait and see exactly what Ashika Island has in store for us. Here’s when the new Resurgence map will be going live in Warzone 2 Season 2!
