Huge Announcement Reveals Super Nintendo World Opening Date and Images

An official announcement from Universal Studios Japan has confirmed breaking Super Nintendo World details.

The soon to be open Nintendo theme park has been a dream for many fans to visit.

Now we know the exact opening date and further details about what to expect when inside.

Super Nintendo World Opening Date

The tweet, written in Japanese translates to:

"Breaking news. New large-scale area "Super Nintendo World ™ 』\ February 4th (Thursday) opening decision

Japan's world-class world of Nintendo games, including "Mario Kart" realized with the latest technology, has become a reality

Campaign information that will win the prior experience will be posted later"

Bowser's Castle

One of the most highly anticipated attractions is 'Mario Kart: Koopa's Challenge.' Koopa's Challenge will be isolated within Bowser's Castle.

The castle takes cues from its iconic video game counterpart, as it sports an imposing staircase, portraits of Bowser, and even a giant statue of Bowser himself.

Visitors will also be able to see a trophy showcase while they wait for the ride.

Mario Kart: Koopa's Challenge (AR)

As for the Koopa's Challenge itself, riders will use an AR headset as a part of the experience.

Although the ride is on rails, it's been revealed that riders will have some amount of control.

Each kart features four seats that each have their own steering wheel attached to it. Bloomberg reporter, Kurumi Mori, also revealed that visitors will race through iconic locations from the game including a "lava level, underwater, a spooky area, Rainbow Road and more."

As for COVID measures, Mori also stated that social distancing would be enforced and Universal will sanitize the headsets.

Super Nintendo World will be opening on February 4, 2021 in Osaka, Japan as a part of Universal Studios. The theme park was supposed to open before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, but COVID-19 had other plans.

Super Nintendo World isn't the only thing Nintendo has cooking.

It's also been revealed that a new Super Mario game is coming to Switch. Also, it's been revealed that Zelda BOTW 2 might be the Switch Pro's primary launch title.
