The new Citadelle des Morts Wonder Weapon has four elemental forms to unlock – here’s how to get the Bastard Sword and all its upgrades in Black Ops 6 Zombies!
If you’re looking to tear through the undead in Citadelle des Morts, you’ll want to get your hands on its Wonder Weapon.
The Bastard Sword is a powerful new melee weapon that can be upgraded into four unique elemental forms. Each elemental upgrade comes with its own special attack, and a serious damage upgrade, but this mighty claymore is worth using even without a power boost!
After all, the Citadelle des Morts Wonder Weapon can deflect incoming projectiles with ease. Best of all, it doesn’t even replace one of your guns, as it fits into your Dedicated Melee Weapon slot!
How to Get the Bastard Sword Wonder Weapon
To get the Bastard Sword Wonder Weapon in Citadelle des Morts, you must first reach Round 10.
After that, special zombies wearing knight helmets will start to spawn each Round. These undead are immune to headshots but are otherwise just regular zombies.

Whenever a knight helmet zombie dies, they will drop a Stamp, which you can press interact (Square/X/F) on to pick up. Each player can only hold one Stamp at a time.
In the Dining Hall, players can find four statues holding swords. Each one is themed around a different animal: a Lion, Dragon, Stag, or Raven – and each Bastard Sword can be upgraded in its own unique way.

When you have a stamp in your inventory, interact with any one of the statues and it will offer you the Bastard Sword Wonder Weapon.
How to Use the Bastard Sword
The Bastard Sword will replace your Dedicated Melee Weapon, meaning that it can be carried alongside two regular weapons in your loadout.
- Equip: Press and hold Right Stick (Controller) or V/Mouse 4 (PC).
- Parry: L2 / LT / Right Click
- Special Ability (When Charged): L2+R2 / LT+RT / LClick+RClick
- Incantation (When Equipped): L1 / LB / Q
The Bastard Sword is a powerful single-target weapon that’s capable of taking down zombies in one swing. It also has a Parry (L2/LT/Right Click) that allows you to reflect incoming damage, and even bounce back projectiles at enemies.

However, to boost its damage output and grant the blade a unique special ability, you’ll need to upgrade it with elemental powers, which we’ll get into below.
Also, when you manage to obtain the elemental variants of a Bastard Sword, you can use it to unlock its corresponding Incantation – a powerful spell that replaces your Tactical Equipment.

These Incantations can be refreshed every few minutes by returning to their various chests around the map and reclaiming the item.
Caliburn – Fire Bastard Sword Guide
Caliburn is the Dragon Bastard Sword, capable of launching immense fireballs at enemies to set them alight.
Here’s how to get your hands on it:
- First, use a Stamp to claim the Dragon Bastard Sword from the statue with a dragon emblem on its chest.
- Head back to the castle entrance and go directly upstairs to find the Dragon Statue.
- Interact with the statue and you’ll place your sword inside the pedestal.

- Now you need to find three flaming Dragon Braziers around the map.
- These can be done in any order, but here’s a step-by-step guide to finding each one.
- The first and closest Brazier is found on the Hillside Battlements, left of the castle’s cannon.

- Interact with the Dragon Brazier to set yourself on fire, then quickly return to the Dragon Statue.
- Interact with the Dragon Statue to deposit your flame, extinguishing yourself.
- While on fire, you will run faster but constantly take damage from the flames.
- The next Dragon Brazier is located on the Hilltop just outside of Citadelle des Morts’ spawn point.

- Interact with it to set yourself on fire, then run towards the castle.
- This time, you’ll need to find purple-eyed zombies on the way to the Dragon Statue. Melee them to kill them, which will restore your health.
- You won’t have enough health to reach the Dragon Statue without restoring your health along the way, so be sure to find the purple-eyed zombies along the route.

- Interact with the Dragon Statue to deposit the flame.
- Then, return all the way to the Town Square spawn area to find the final Dragon Brazier.

- Interact with it, run to the castle while melee-killing purple-eyed zombies along the way, and deposit the final flame.
- The Dragon Statue will breathe fire on the Bastard Sword and infuse it with fire energy.

- Interact with the pedestal to claim Caliburn, the fire Bastard Sword Wonder Weapon.
Getting the Fire Incantation
- Take Caliburn to the castle walls, near the cannon.
- Here, there are three bonfires that need to be lit.
- When you use it to slay enough zombies, you can use Caliburn’s special ability (L2+R2 / LT+RT / LClick+RClick) to shoot fire at the wooden piles to light them. Alternatively, you can also use a Molotov to save you time.
- The first bonfire is located just to the left of the Oil Trap on the ramparts, to the east.

- The second bonfire is on the roof on the northwest side of the Hillside Ramparts.

- Finally, the third bonfire is above the main entrance of the castle.

- When each bonfire is set alight, zombies will rain down from the sky in balls of flame. When the third bonfire is lit, a Doppelghast will spawn.
- Defeat the Doppelghast and it will drop Ra’s Ankh.
- Pick up the item, and drop down off the walls to the courtyard. A glowing golden spot will start to glow.

- Interact with the golden spot to place the Ankh inside. Then kill zombies nearby and it will turn into a golden chest.
- Melee the chest with Caliburn to open it.

- Then interact with the Fire Incantation to claim it.
Durendal – Lightning Bastard Sword Guide
Durenal is the Stag Bastard Sword, capable of harnessing the power of the storm to discharge voltaic power in a beam that can stun and shock enemies.
Here’s how to get it:
- First, take a Stamp to the statue with the Stag emblem on its chest to claim the Stag Bastard Sword.
- Then, you’ll need to collect three Lightning Rods from around the Citadelle des Morts map.
- The first is dropped by killing an Armored Zombie who will spawn in the Dungeon near the Quick Revive Perk-a-Cola machine.

- Head to the Dungeon, wait for the undead to spawn and kill it to find the first Lightning Rod. Then, pick it up.
- The second Lightning Rod is beside the Deadshot Daiquiri machine, outside a barn on the Hilltop near spawn.

- To get the third Lightning Rod, first you’ll need to craft the Dead Wire Ammo Mod from the Arsenal.
- Then, find and shoot the electrical box in the Courtyard.
- Alternatively, you can use a Shock Charge on the box to accomplish this step!
- This will send a shock up the antennae nearby and drop the final Lightning Rod.

- When you have all three, head to the Hillside Ramparts near the cannon, and you’ll find a strange-looking urn.
- Interact with the container to place the Lightning Rods inside. This will cause a storm to start brewing nearby.

- Kill several purple-eyed zombies with your Stag Bastard Sword and its blade will start to glow. Whenever it does, hit the urn with the sword to deposit the charge.
- Regular zombies will not charge the blade, but the undead will still continue to spawn as normal during the Round. We recommend thinning out the regular zombies before placing the Lightning Rods in the urn.

- Once all three charges have been deposited, interact with the container once more to place your Bastard Sword inside. Lightning will imbue your blade with energy.

- Interact with it once more to claim Durendal, the lightning Wonder Weapon.
Getting the Lightning Incantation
- Head back to the barn where Deadshot Daiquiri is found, and look above the door from the inside.
- Shoot the horseshoe that hangs above the door to drop it, then interact with the item to pick up Otto’s Horseshoe.

- Head to the cannon and interact with its mouth to climb inside it.
- This will cause you to be fired out of the cannon towards spawn, dropping the horseshoe in the process.

- Look to the sky and find the storm cloud, then head over to it.
- Here you’ll find a charged-up horseshoe called the Pegasus’ Horseshoe.

- Go to the Town Square spawn area and interact with the glowing gold spot on the ground to deposit the horseshoe.
- Then kill zombies in the nearby area to turn it into a golden chest.

- Melee the chest with Durendal to open it.
- Then, interact with the Electric Incantation to claim it.
Balmung – Darkness Bastard Sword Guide
Balmung is the Raven Bastard Sword, which can open a rift into the Aetherial abyss and pull enemies into the void.
Here’s how to unlock the darkness upgrade:
- First, take a Stamp to the statue with the raven on its shoulder and interact to claim the Raven Bastard Sword.
- Next, head into the Alchemical Lab next to the Dining Hall, and you’ll be able to discover one of several different Antiquities. The exact item you will discover is randomized each game, but it can be any one of the following:
- A horn on the shelves near the table.

- A jawbone on the bookshelves in the corner.
- A fish fossil on the shelves left of the Purple Armor Wall Buy.
- A scorpion fossil on the table near the globe.
- A pair of bird skulls on the bookshelves.

- Pick up the Antiquity and head to the Town Square spawn area.
- Head into the Tavern Cellar and interact with the dial on the wall to place your Antiquity within.

- While holding the Raven Bastard Sword, interact with the dial to place it inside.
- Now, you’ll be able to rotate the outer and inner rings of the dial freely.
- Depending on which Antiquity you found, you’ll need to rotate the dials to the combination shown below:

- A purple portal will open in the Tavern Cellar, and purple orbs will flow from the dial towards your location.
- Stand near the portal and the orbs will flow into it.

- Once enough orbs have entered the portal, another one will open on the first floor of the Tavern. Head upstairs and stand near it until the orbs flow into it too.

- Finally, once the second portal is complete, one final portal will appear upstairs in the Tavern.
- Guide the orbs into the final portal to close it.
- It’s worth mentioning that walking into the orbs or shooting them will cause them to explode. It can be tricky to complete this step when fighting off zombies, so try and clear out any zombie hordes before starting this task.

- Once all three portals are closed, return to the dial in the basement and interact with the sword to pull it out. It will fall into a purple portal and infuse itself with darkness energy.

- Interact with it once more to claim Balmung, the darkness Bastard Sword.
Getting the Dark Incantation
- Go to the Oubliette Room where the Pack-a-Punch machine is located.
- Find the porthole in the corner, make sure you have a gun equipped, and pay 500 Essence to use the Cave Slide.

- As you slide, you need to shoot the raven that is perched on this broken section of wall. This causes it to be startled and leave the cave.

- When you emerge in the Town Square, look at the sky to find the raven flying about.
- Shoot it out of the sky and it’ll drop the Raven’s Talon.

- Pick up the Raven’s Talon and go to the castle Undercroft.
- Here, a golden glowing spot will appear, and you can deposit the Talon inside.

- Kill enough zombies in the nearby area and the Raven’s Talon will turn into a golden chest.
- Hit the chest with Balmung to open it, then claim the Dark Incantation.
Solais – Light Bastard Sword Guide
Solais is the Lion Bastard Sword, capable of protecting its user and healing them whenever a zombie is slain.
Here’s how to get your hands on it:
- First, use a Stamp to claim the Lion Bastard Sword from the statue with a lion emblem on its chest.
- While you have the Lion Bastard Sword, you’ll start to notice glowing golden Parasites spawning at the start of every Round.

- Head to the Village Ascent (the path on the left when heading out of the castle).
- Here, you’ll find a wooden door with a lion knocker.

- Use your Bastard Sword to kill a glowing Parasite and your sword will start to glow.
- Then, hit the wooden door with your sword and a golden symbol will appear on it.
- Repeat this process three times until the door has four golden symbols.
- If you accidentally kill a Parasite without using your sword, don’t worry. Enough glowing Parasites to complete this step will continue to spawn each Round.
- Interact with the door and you’ll enter it.

- Then, interact with the pedestal inside to place your sword into it.
- A series of symbols will light up on the pedestal’s base.
- Find the currently lit-up symbol (which will be floating around on the walls) and shoot it.

- Then, find and shoot the next symbol until all four have been shot.
- If you shoot the wrong symbol, you’ll have to start the process over. If you take too long, you’ll be forced out of the room completely, and you’ll be able to re-enter the following round.
- You can now interact with the infused sword to claim Solais.
Getting the Light Incantation
- Return to the Dining Hall, and look for a glowing red crystal in the rafters.

- Shoot the crystal and it’ll emit a beam of light.
- Stand roughly underneath where the beam is pointing, and shoot the crystal again.

- This will redirect the wispy beam into a solid light, indicating that it has been properly redirected.
- Repeat this process by heading to the next light beam and shooting back at it until it is positioned correctly.

- The final beam of light will point at a bust on the table in the Alchemical Lab.
- Interact with it to obtain the Paladin’s Brooch.

- Return to the Dining Hall and a yellow spot on the floor will start to glow gold in front of the lion wall painting. Interact with it to deposit the Paladin’s Brooch.
- Kill enemies in the nearby area and the Brooch will turn into a golden chest.

- Melee the chest with Solais to open it.
- Then interact with the Light Incantation to claim it.
How to Swap Bastard Swords
Players can also swap between the different elemental Bastard Sword Wonder Weapons at any time by interacting with the statues in the Dining Hall.
The first time that you go to claim a Bastard Sword, you’ll need a Stamp to receive the statue’s weapon.
After that, you can return the statue at any point and swap out your blade for another one you’ve already unlocked. This will let you swap to a different elemental blade at will – and your old sword will appear back with its knight whenever you lose it!

However, only one of each blade can be active at a time, which means that no two players can have the same Bastard Sword.
But whether you’re playing Solo or in a group, you’ll need to craft all four elemental blades to complete the Citadelle des Morts Main Quest Easter Egg!
