Xbox fans have plenty of huge new games to look forward to over the coming years, with these 13 Series X/S titles being the most highly-anticipated of all!

The Xbox Series X and S launched back in November of last year, but there haven’t been too many next-gen games to play yet. Luckily, this is all about to change very soon.

Even though the Xbox Series X stock shortage will continue into 2022, more gamers are picking up the console every day. And, of course, they need something to play on their new system.

Here are the 13 most highly-anticipated Xbox Series X/S games that everyone can’t wait to play.

13. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II

First up is a sequel to the award-winning Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. Microsoft has now purchased developer Ninja Theory, meaning that this will be coming to Xbox and PC only.

Hellblade II was revealed back at The Game Awards in 2019, but we have heard very little about the game since then. However, we do know that it will continue warrior Senua’s story and that it will be set in 9th century Iceland.

Additionally, large swathes of Iceland’s landscape have been recreated for the game and the combat has undergone some huge improvements. Prepare for an emotional and brutal journey.

12. Forza Horizon 5

Forza has set the standard for racing games for a long time now. Whether it is the hyper-realistic Motorsport titles or the open-world driving of Horizon, you know it’ll look great.

No surprises here, the Forza Horizon 5 gameplay trailer looked absolutely stunning and proudly revealed the game’s diverse new setting – Mexico.

In a huge variety of cars, players will be able to traverse the desert, jungle, and an idyllic seaside town. Plus, there is an impressive new dynamic weather system and new lighting effects to make Forza even more immersive.

11. Battlefield 2042

Battlefield 2042 may have had some development trouble, and a delay, but this hasn’t stopped us from getting excited about the game.

Developer DICE has already listed loads of improvements from the Beta for the Battlefield 2042 launch build, and things are looking promising.

Huge maps, an even bigger player count, and some high-tech weapons and gadgets will make this futuristic shooter an FPS experience like no other.

10. GTA 5: Expanded & Enhanced

Everyone has played GTA 5 by this point, but this doesn’t mean we wouldn’t want to play it again. And what better excuse to hop back into Los Santos than Grand Theft Auto 5 Expanded & Enhanced?

While the enhanced graphics will definitely be a big draw for many, it might not be enough for others. Let’s hope for a load of expanded content with the game too!

While we don’t know when to expect Expanded & Enhanced yet, GTA fans will definitely be busy. A leak could have revealed the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition release date.

9. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

The original Avatar film came out all the way back in 2009. However, even 12 years later, there are still huge plans for the series.

Gamers were extremely surprised to see an Avatar game announced at E3 this year, but it makes sense to release a game alongside the upcoming Avatar 2. After all, it will almost certainly be one of the biggest movies of the year.

This will be a first-person action-adventure game set on the vibrant alien planet of Pandora from the movie. What’s more, it will give players a huge open world to explore.

8. Avowed


First-person action RPG Avowed is a game that many Xbox players have overlooked so far. However, it could be one of the very best games coming to the Series X/S soon.

Developed by legendary studio Obsidian, who made KOTOR 2, Fallout: New Vegas and The Outer Worlds, Avowed will transport players into a fantasy setting.

Additionally, it looks to feature two-handed ‘Elder Scrolls’ style combat, with magic, bows, and swords weapons you can wield. But there’s more on that later…

7. Fable


A new Fable game has been a long time coming. Although, we might still be waiting for a while yet.

All we’ve seen so far is a 1-minute teaser trailer showing a fairy getting eaten by a frog, so there’s not much to go on. At least the dark sense of humor is still there though!

Although, interestingly, the series is getting a new developer. This time, Forza Horizon developer Playground Games is taking the reins.

Iconic action hero Indiana Jones is also getting his own new game. What’s more, it’s being made by Wolfenstein developer Machine Games.

Again, all we’ve seen so far is a very small teaser trailer, but that is enough to get us excited. Whether it is based on the movies or it has an original story, we are certain it’ll be a great adventure and have some great gunplay too!

5. Elden Ring

Elden Ring is certainly FromSoftware’s most ambitious game to date. And there’s a lot of hype surrounding the game right now.

Bringing the Souls gameplay to an open world won’t be easy, but we trust FromSoftware to hit it out of the park, like always. Plus, the leaked Elden Ring gameplay is looking particularly good.

Be warned though, we can assure you that Elden Ring won’t be easy! You’ll need a lot of skill and patience for any Souls game and this won’t be any different.

4. Hogwarts Legacy

Harry Potter fans can finally dive back into the Wizarding World in Hogwarts Legacy. This will let players live out their fantasy by creating their own student, choosing their house, and attending Hogwarts.

Hogwarts Legacy takes place in the 1800s, well before the books, and gives players the opportunity to shape the future of the Wizarding World. And, of course, you’ll be able to learn ancient magic in classes and meet some fantastic beasts too.

Unfortunately, we haven’t heard much about the game since a delay was announced. Although we can still hope that developer Portkey games is still working towards a 2022 release date.

3. Halo Infinite

Master Chief is finally returning in Halo Infinite. Surely the most anticipated Xbox Series X/S game of the year, this will hopefully be a triumphant return to form for Halo.

Launching with a free-to-play Multiplayer game mode, almost everyone with an Xbox Series X/S will be hopping into Infinite on release day. The early signs of the game seem good too, with almost everyone loving the Technical Playtests.

Expect some classic arena shooter gameplay, some fantastic sci-fi weapons, colorful Spartan armor, and a load of fun!

2. Starfield


Bethesda’s next huge RPG Starfield is confirmed to be an Xbox exclusive. And while PlayStation fans aren’t happy about it, Xbox owners are over the moon!

Taking gamers across the galaxy to various exciting sci-fi locations, Starfield will be a breath of fresh air for all of the hardcore Bethesda RPG fans.

Let’s hope that Bethesda can take the memorable stories, in-depth leveling systems, and the excitement of exploring it is known for into this bold new setting.

1. The Elder Scrolls 6

The Elder Scrolls 6

Of course, the big one is The Elder Scrolls 6. However, this may be the furthest away of the lot as it is still in the design phase.

We have only seen a very short teaser for the game so far, but that was enough to get all of the gamers on the internet talking about it.

Plus, a recent Starfield trailer could have revealed the setting of The Elder Scrolls 6 too.

It’ll take some doing to surpass Skyrim, but Bethesda will certainly be hoping to make a game even bigger and better than its predecessor.
