There have been many leaks, rumours and intel regarding Assassin’s Creed Empire over the last few weeks. With development confirmed to be in full flow, we have rounded up all of our intel so far including the release date, location and much more!
Assassin’s Creed Empire
Assassin’s Creed Empire Location & Map
Various leaks strongly suggest that the next Assassin’s Creed title will be set in Ancient Egypt. The game world / map is expected to be three times the size of Black Flag! Below you can see what is rumoured to be a leaked image of what appears to be a prototype menu featuring a pyramid.
Assassin’s Creed Empire Time Period
As mentioned above, Assassin’s Creed Empire is likely to be set during the time period of the Ancient Egyptians. In terms of dates, this could be anywhere between approximately 3,100 BCE and 30 BCE. A vast timeframe such as this would allow Ubisoft developers more freedom in their storytelling and also require less emphasis on historical accuracy.
Is Assassin’s Creed Empire Linked to Previous Titles in the Game Series?
It appears as though Assassin’s Creed Empire will be a prequel to all the other titles in the game series. This again gives the developers more freedom to work with the story.

Assassin’s Creed Empire Release Date
Assassin’s Creed Empire is reportedly being aimed for a 2017 release. However, if development takes longer than initially anticipated, we could see the release date set back to 2018. Although this is frustrating for many diehard AC fans, it is good to see Ubisoft taking this title so seriously. Many fans throughout the Assassin’s Creed community have voiced their disappointment with the titles following Black Flag (regarded by many as the best in the series), as they felt these had been rushed in order to meet certain deadline expectations.
Assassin’s Creed Empire Combat System & Progression
It appears as though Assassin’s Creed Empire will be inspired by the Witcher 3, in terms of the combat system and progression. We would expect these game mechanics to work incredibly well in an Assassin’s Creed title, something which is sure to excite original AC fans, as well as luring in fans of The Witcher game series.
Is Assassin’s Creed Empire Only a Code Name?
According to our sources, Assassin’s Creed Empire was actually originally meant to be set in Ancient Rome. This is partly why it is called Empire, it is also more than likely that Empire is just a code name.
Assassin’s Creed Empire Developers
With the last few Assassin’s Creed games not living up to expectations, fans will be pleased to hear that the development team of Black Flag (one of the most loved games of all time) are currently developing Empire. We can also confirm that Empire will likely be made completely from scratch, with very little recycled content (perhaps only a few animations here and there).
Assassin’s Creed Empire Trailer
With the game coming out in 2017 / 2018 no information on a trailer has been released yet.
Assassin’s Creed Empire Trilogy
As it stands, Assassin’s Creed Empire appears to be a Trilogy, with future titles expected to be set in Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece.
Assassin’s Creed Empire Main Character / Protagonist
The Assassin’s Creed Empire Main Character / Protagonist is likely to be an ex-slave, with his appearance meant to resemble that of Altair.
Who is the Assassin’s Creed Character Altair?
Assassin’s Creed Empire Multiplayer / Online
In the next Assassin’s Creed, Co-op / Multiplayer mode will likely be taken away from the game completely. This is so Ubisoft can spend more time making a better story.
